Parks & Recreation

The Parks and Recreation staff is responsible for management and maintenance of seven parks, a campground and an RV park, two boat launches, a small boat harbor, two hiking and biking trails, the pavilion, Kuhlmeier Reflecting Pond, skate park and skate trail, ball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, shelter houses, and the Old Fort Madison.

Adopt A Garden

The Adopt A Garden program was created in order to provide proper care and maintenance for the many flowerbeds located throughout the Fort Madison Parks system.

Individuals, groups, or organizations who are willing to volunteer their time and help beautify the parks are encouraged to adopt one of the numerous flowerbeds in the Fort Madison Parks system. If you adopt a flowerbed, you will be responsible for the care and maintenance of it. Expenses associated with the flowerbed will be reimbursed up to $100 per garden. This will be yours as long as you are willing to commit the time and effort to maintain and care for it.

If you are interested in adopting a flowerbed, contact the Parks and Recreation office at (319) 372-7700 ext. 201 and she will explain all the details associated with the Adopt A Garden program and inform you of the flowerbeds still needing to be adopted.
