Learn to Swim

Our six-level Learn-to-Swim program is unlike anything offered by other learn to swim programs. The program is designed for children over 6 years all the way up to adults, and students progress through the levels at their own pace, mastering the skills in one level before advancing to the next. Each level of our Learn-to-Swim class includes training in basic water safety and helping others in an emergency, in addition to stroke development.

Overview

Friends and family are welcome to sit in the designated areas at the pool. We ask that they do not stand outside the fence around the pool area due to the distractions the students may have during the lessons. Utilizing the time we have in the water is very important and we ask that you allow your child/children the opportunity to attend swimming lessons without unnecessary distractions.

The last Friday of lessons will be designated as Family Day and family and friends are encouraged to join us around the pool deck to watch all the accomplishments your child/children have made during the two week session.

Class Information

Swim classes run for 50 minutes and meet Monday through Friday for two weeks.

Should more than one cancellation (weather related) occur in a given week, only the first cancellation will be rescheduled on Saturday of that week. Any other cancellations (weather related) will not be made up.

Registration
Swim lesson registration will officially begin at 8:00 am on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Parks and Recreation Office. The deadline to sign up for swim lessons is the Thursday before the beginning of a session. You cannot register for swim lessons at the pool!

Nothing kills a program quicker than everyone waiting until the last minute to register for it. If you would like to participate in one of our classes please register well in advance of the registration deadline. At some point, we must determine if enrollment is sufficient to hold the activity. Your cooperation will assist us in providing the best organization and administration of recreation programs.

If any additional assistance is necessary for a special needs child that is signing up for swim lessons, that information must be noted at time of registration so accommodations can be arranged. If the information is not provided at time of registration it cannot be guaranteed that the proper assistance will be available.
