2018 Children's Summer Reading Program

Beginning May 29th you can sign-up for the library's summer reading program.  
Information for the adult program is on the other side of this sheet.  Kids and teens  will receive a reading record and a sheet of stickers.  The first 50 children to sign up will also receive “The Daily Beat” activity pages.  Mark off or place a sticker on one spot on your reading record for each five minutes you read.  Once your reading record is full, bring it into the library for a prize. All children who complete at least one reading record will receive a pass for themselves and a friend to attend the library's end of summer pool party July 21 from 6:00-8:00.

2018 Teen and Adult Summer Reading Program
for ages 13* and up
(*13 as of September 1, 2017)


Beginning May 30, you can sign-up for the library's summer reading program.  Once you sign-up, you will receive a reading record and a sheet of stickers.  For each 5 minutes you read, mark off or place a sticker on one spot on your reading record.  Once your reading record is full, bring it into the library for a prize.  All participants who complete at least one reading record will receive a pass for themselves and a friend to attend the library's end of summer pool party July 21 from 6:00-8:00.

June 5, 5:30 – Rock Painting
June 7, 1:30 – All Booked UP! discusses "When the Sea Turned to Silver" by Grace Lin
June 12, 5:30 – Cook the Book “America's Best Pies" (including contest for favorite pie).  Pick a recipe from the book or bring a personal favorite (if you don't pick one from the book, please bring copies of the recipe to share)
June 19, 5:30 – Movie Night with free popcorn.  Join us for a movie from the 90's about a band 60's trying to find success.
June 26, 5:30 – Coffee and Canvas at Hy-Vee with Starbucks and painting instruction from Marie Brady - no cost but space is limited and pre-registration is required by June 17.
July 3, 5:30 – Movie Night with free popcorn.  Join us for a musical about the founding of our country.
July 5, 1:30 – All Booked UP! discusses "Alice in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll
July 10, 5:30 – Cook the Book “Local Flavors” (or bring a favorite family recipe to share, if you don't pick a recipe from the book, please bring copies of the recipe to share)
July 17, 5:30 – Painting with Music
July 24, 5:30 – Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center, call (800) 747-5401 ext.1281 to make an appointment to donate blood
July 31, 5:30 – Coloring and Crafting.  Bring a project to work on or color one of the coloring sheets provided.
