Trash Pick-Up Information

Recycling & Yard Waste Collection Dates

Services and Fees

Solid Waste Fee - $10.00 per month for once a week trash pick up, twice a month recycling pick up and twice a month yard waste pick up (yard waste only during the spring, summer, and fall) is charged on the water bill.

Storm Water Fee - $1.00 per household and $10.00 per commercial property is charged on the water bill.

Appliance Disposal - $15.00 per appliance.

About us

The Public Works Department is responsible for the installation and maintenance of street name signs, warning, regulatory, and informational signs and pavement markings in accordance with the City Code and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The department is responsible for the maintenance and minor repair on the City's storm water system. Public Works is responsible for the maintenance and minor repair of the City's sanitary sewer system. This includes once a year cleaning of the entire system and responding to calls of sewer back ups. The department also does street cleaning on all paved streets in the City which includes cleaning and picking up street trash, and emptying public trash containers in the central business district. The department maintains approximately 76 miles of improved and unimproved streets and alleys within the City. We also have a maintenance agreement with the IDOT for routine maintenance, minor repair, and snow removal on Highway 61 and 2 where it runs through the city. We do application of ice control chemicals before, during and after a winter storm. We also plow city streets and the state highways that are in the city limits. The shop does repair and maintenance on City-owned heavy equipment, motor vehicles, mower, and other mechanical equipment for City Departments. The department also provides garbage collection once a week, recycling, and yard waste pick up twice a month (Spring to Fall yard waste only) from 4,000 residential units for disposal at the landfill.
