Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Click here for February/March 2011 newsletterStaffJimmy Wendorf - RSVP Director, 319-372-7700, ext. 205About UsThe mission of the RSVP is dedicated to addressing community needs by matching the interests, experience and talents of individuals age 55 and older with rewarding volunteer opportunities. RSVP coordinates with approximately 35 non-profit organizations in the community to provide volunteers with a wide variety of jobs which, in turn, help those residents of our community in need. A few of our volunteer positions include tutoring elementary students in reading, delivering hot, nutritious meals to the homebound, packing food orders and operating the tourist information center and much, much more. Anyone age 55 and over can join RSVP - and it is FREE! Volunteers do not need any special background, work experience or education - all that is required is a desire to get involved and give back to the community. Based on the volunteer's interests and talents, they are placed in rewarding volunteer positions providing as little or as much volunteer service as they feel comfortable with. Volunteers can provide service on a daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly basis at one or more of our volunteer stations. In addition, RSVP provides training when needed, supplemental insurance for our volunteers, and invitiations to recognition events. |
