2023 City Wide Spring Clean-Up
The City of Fort Madison, in their efforts to promote cleanliness and pride in the community, is providing two (2) garbage vouchers to each Fort Madison garbage resident. Each voucher allows the bearer to take one (1) pick-up load of trash, at no charge, to the Great River Regional Waste Authority (GRRWA) landfill between April 17th – April 29th, 2023. Vouchers are for one-time use only and must be surrendered to the clerk upon entry to the landfill.

Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm
Saturday, 9:00am to Noon
This year's Spring Clean-up is set for April 17th to April 29th. This is an excellent opportunity for property owners to address any non-compliance conditions. Please allow yourself ample time to unload and have the vehicle driven back across the scale before closing time! Be aware that there may be extended wait times based on participation.
ALL LOADS MUST BE SECURED AND TARPED! LOADS NOT TARPED WILL BE FINED A $100.00 PENALTY.
ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED DURING THE PROGRAM
- Televisions
- Radios
- VCRs
- Computers
- Electronic devices
- Appliances
- Vehicle batteries
- Tires of any size
- Construction and demolition materials (bricks, concrete, asphalt shingles, lumber, siding, drywall, etc.) – Note: employees may use discretion in taking a small amount of this type of material
- Liquids (antifreeze, waste oil, paint) Note: Paint cans will be accepted ONLY if the lid is off and the contents are either dried or absorbed by sawdust, cat litter, etc.
- Hazardous materials (explosive materials, volatiles and flammables, poisons, etc.)
- Any substance which may present a hazard to collection personnel and materials that are normally taken under the City Yard Waste Program.
