Right of Way Tree Planting Permit
This permit is specifically for property owners who intend to purchase their own trees and plant them in City right of way.
The City right of way is the space between the sidewalk and the street. While this space services many purposes, it is there for underground or overhead utilities. Trees may be planted there, but guidelines are in place to prevent utility interference and sight obstructions for pedestrians and motorists.
By completing this permit, property owners acknowledge that it is their responsibility to complete general maintenance as the tree interferes with Fort Madison's City Code (Ord. B-304, 12-18-79)
