Website 1.jpg

The Fort Madison Veterans Memorial was dedicated on May 29, 2000 to honor all who have served, are currently serving or will serve in the United States Armed Services. The memorial has six flags and five black granite benches to honor each of the five branches of service. The United States Air Force, United States Marine Corps, United States Navy, United States Army, United States Coast Guard. The sixth flag honors Missing in Action /Prisoners of War. Each granite bench is embossed with the emblem of each of the five branches of the armed forces.

The idea for the Fort Madison Veterans Memorial originated through the Marine Corps League who purchased and installed the main flag pole in Riverview Park. The Marine Corps League felt a Veterans Memorial would be the best way to honor Fort Madison's Veterans.
