In an effort to maintain a high quality finished water product to city water customers and to ensure proper fire protection, the Fort Madison Water department will start its semi-annual fire hydrant flushing on Monday, Sept. 24, at 7 a.m. The hydrant flushing will continue through Friday and will end at 3:30 p.m. each day.
Motorists are advised to use caution when encountering the water flushing crews. Customers may experience discoloration of the water and reduced water pressure. Conditions should return to normal in a short period of time.
