In an effort to maintain high quality finished water to the City water customers and to ensure proper fire protection, the City of Fort Madison Water Department will start its semi-annual fire hydrant flushing on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 7:00 AM. The hydrant flushing will continue through Friday, September 26, 2014 at 3:30 PM.
Motorists are advised to use caution when they encounter Water Department crews flushing hydrants. Customers may experience discoloration of the water and reduced pressure. Conditions should return to normal in a short period.
